Have there been times in your life when you have felt frustrated and dissatisfied with the situation in your life?
Perhaps you look in the mirror… and the body you see is a lot softer, rounder and pudgier than you want.
Perhaps it’s when you see your bank balance… and you start wishing it was a little higher.
Or perhaps it’s when you struggle to have a meaningful conversation with your kids or your loved one… and you wonder why things could not be easier.
Whatever the case is, we have all experienced situations where we are dissatisfied in life. Yet what do we do about it?
Most of us go and watch TV to distract us, eat something, drink something or do whatever we can to try and remove the pain… rather than acknowledging the pain and let it serve us.
How do I mean?
Well, David Rockefeller said, “If necessity is the mother of invention, discontent is the father of progress”.
You see, until you acknowledge that you are dissatisfied with something, you are never going to do anything to change it.
It is only be acknowledging that you feel bad and that you’re not happy with something that you can then find the motivation to do something about it.
If you’re not dissatisfied with your health, your body, your energy levels – are you going to do anything to change?
If you’re not dissatisfied with your wealth – are you going to do anything to change?
We know the answer… but don’t do what most people do which, as I said is do something to distract themselves or just whinge and complain about the situation.
That won’t help either.
You need to understand that the feeling of dissatisfaction is the first step to a better life. It is the Nature’s way of telling you that there is something better out there for you… you just need to now go out and find it.
And that’s the exciting part!
Your feeling of dissatisfaction about your waistline, your bank balance or your relationship is actually the first indication to you that you are now ready for a better life! It’s a sign that actually can change!
When you drop something on the ground, you don’t curse gravity do you? No, because you can’t change it. When you actually stop and analyse, the only things that you are really dissatisfied in life with are the things that you can change.
Any champion will tell you that you must experience pain and discomfort along the way to achieving a great life. So don’t do things to dull the pain – instead let it serve you.
As the great football coach, Vince Lombardi said, “The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”
So next time you experience a feeling of dissatisfaction with how life is, remember that it is the first step to changing your life for the better.
Accept that the pain is here to serve you and now start looking at what the first step is you can take to make a chance. Remember, you can’t take the extra step to success without taking the first one!
Until next time,
