Empowering & Inspiring You To Perform At Your Peak In Life And Business

Welcome To My Official Blog

Hello, my name is Niro Thambipillay and thank you so much for visiting my official blog. I am a social media & search engine optimisation consultant, business growth specialist and personal development speaker and coach. (Yes, I wear lots of hats J ) On my blog, you will find a variety of content, information and tips about personal growth and development, social media, online marketing, entrepreneurship and many other topics which will help you achieve your personal potential. I am incredibly passionate about inspiring and helping people fulfil their potential… And that’s what I want to help YOU do as well.

I created this blog to help you fulfil your personal potential, grow your business, realise your dreams and create a magnificent life.

But Who Am I?

I was born in the small island country of Sri Lanka and lived in a variety of countries before moving to a small country town in NSW, Australia at the age of 9. When growing up, I struggled to socialise with people and interacting with my peers was a real challenge. Truth be told – I was your typical nerd. As I was not able to socialise too well with people, I found refuge in my study. Yes, it was a sad story but doing well at school was the only way I could feel good about myself, at least until my early twenties.

I share this with you because interacting with other people was not always easy for me. I was never sure what to say and I was always too concerned about what people thought of me. So although I enjoyed high school, I knew there was more for me.

I was lucky enough to do well at school and I moved to Sydney to attend university. I did an engineering and commerce degree because it seemed like a good thing to do, although I very quickly worked out that I was no engineer. In fact, I’ve never used a single thing I learned in my engineering degree.

Graduating from university, I remember being very excited about getting my first job, until I looked at how much I was being payed. That quickly stifled my enthusiasm to say the least! I realised that I would have to look for additional and alternate streams of income!

Losing it All!

As a result, I plunged into wealth creation and subsequently personal development, devouring every book I could find and I attended every seminar I could, often stretching my budget to do so. I implemented a number of things that I learned and I had some early successes. My first property transaction netted me $50,000 in profit and I thought I was a genius. I became very aggressive with my investing and I very quickly amassed a large property portfolio. At this stage, I thought I was set for life and I became very arrogant in my ways – however the universe had a lesson for me!

I was taught the hard way that property can go up as well as down and when people don’t have jobs, they can’t pay the rent. What was supposed to be a cushy ride to paradise ended up being the most challenging 2 years of my life. My properties dived in value, my tenants fell behind on their rent and I could not replace them, any additional equity I had invested in the share market got wiped out in the 2007/2008 stock market crash and I was left with nothing! I was 29 years of age and I was now living at home because I had to. I did not have enough money to even pay for my food, let alone service my mortgages.

At my lowest point, I was over $100,000 in debt, facing financial ruin, jobless, (I was let go from two different jobs within 12 months) without a source of income and having to fight two different legal cases. I’m not sure why people wanted to sue me when I had no money but I guess that’s just the way things go. In addition to the financial stress, the emotional stress was almost overbearing as I felt like I could not face the world. I put on weight and I started to isolate myself from my friends. As someone who had achieved a lot in my youth, I did not know where to go and I felt completely lost, wondering what my purpose and path in life was. Simply put, I was fat, broke and emotionally spent!

The Belief That Kept Me Going!

However, as with almost any challenge, when we focus on the lesson, it ends up being a blessing in disguise and this was the case for me. It is when things are at their toughest that we need to look at our beliefs and I had one firm belief that kept me going – I was put on this Earth for a purpose and it was my duty to fulfil my purpose. I just refused to believe that the Creator put me here to be a loser or even to be average; I had to be destined for great things. With that belief, I started to relook at myself. I looked at where I went wrong and the light went on for me. I realised that I had been chasing money and wealth for reasons driven by ego, not of service, passion and purpose. It makes me very uncomfortable to say this but I had wanted to make a million bucks by the time I turned 30 just so everyone would think I was so great!! I was an idiot – a complete and utter idiot!

Getting Back on my feet

Once I realised this, I started to look at where I could be of service to people. After reading a number of personal development books, I knew that the only way to increase my wealth was to be of greater service. The person who does more than he is paid for is eventually paid for what he does! This is when I looked at the internet. While I had been running around like a crazy chicken buying, renovating and selling property, I’d also been focusing on Search Engine Optimisation in my job. In fact, I’d gotten my employer onto the first page of Google in one the most competitive niches and I’d helped increase their online sales from $5M to over $18M within 19 months. Here I had this tremendous skill around making money on the internet and I’d been too busy chasing my tail to notice. For those of you have read “Acres Of Diamonds, you’ll know this was exactly that – I had my greatest gift within me and yet I’d been looking everywhere else.

What Happened Next!

So once again I decided to plunge into the world of entrepreneurship – despite the setbacks I was more determined than ever to make it as a business owner. I figured that I had gone through way too much to give up now – as Michael Jordan said, “I succeed because I have failed over and over again.” It seemed that was perhaps the path I was going to take – failing my way to success.

So I launched my own consulting business and in the first month, my income was a paltry $500. I was starting to doubt myself – remember I had no savings and massive amounts of debt. However I persevered! Thank God I did. It’s true that most people give up just 3 feet before their biggest success and that would have been true for me as well. Instead, by the end of the third month I was making a full time income and by the end of 5 months I was making a significant 5 figure monthly income! So much so that I was able to clear all of my debts from my previous business failures. I can tell you I celebrated like nothing else when I paid off that last debt… wow, I have not felt that good in so long. In fact I was also able to buy my fiancée a gorgous engagement ring as well which she was thrilled with. I could have cried, I was so happy!

If you had told me this would happen when I started the business, I would have laughed – especially after having had so many failures.  However, this is exactly what happened and I feel incredibly blessed. Has my success come in a relatively short time? To go from $500 to a 5 figure monthly income in just 5 months is certainly fast – but it was not 5 months. I had been making mistake after mistake for years previously so as far as I’m concerned, it took me nearly 7 years to become an overnight success J
